WHY OUR WATER BILLS ARE SET TO RISE BY 35% OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS (AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT)
We’ve been paying Yorkshire Water to provide us with clean drinking water & to safely dispose of our waste.
So why do they now ask us for 35% MORE money to repair our crumbling water infrastructure?
It is because, since 1989, Yorkshire Water have borrowed £7 billion and paid out £9 billion in dividends to their shareholders. 27% of your bill goes just to service this debt!
That’s why the company now has NO money to invest – and that’s why you are being asked to pay a SECOND time to put things right!
Successive governments have done nothing to stop this. OFWAT and The Environment Agency have done nothing to stop this.
Now we are told that we have to pay AGAIN - yet have no guarantees that Yorkshire Water will not simply carry on as before!
PROTEST! DO NOT LET YORKSHIRE WATER GET AWAY WITH IT!!

Cancel your Direct Debit by contacting your bank or building society. Most of us pay our water bills by Direct Debit. If we cancel these it will be harder for Yorkshire Water to borrow huge sums of money to pay big dividends. Tell Yorkshire Water why you have done this. Write your own letter or use the DD cancellation template
